Nancy,
That is soooo wonderful that you can make your mom homemade food and that she is loving it!
I had the same sort of experience with my mom this week at the hospital. She was "not eating" and my sister came in and they were giving her chicken noodle soup. Well, she wasn't eating it because she was shaking so bad she couldn't get it to her mouth, so my sister fed her. She mentioned to the nurses that someone had to help her eat as she was too shaky. I came in the next day and stayed most of the day. I ordered her food she could eat with her fingers and "BAM" she was eating. I had to set stuff up, open yogurt, cut up her french toast etc. and then she could eat it. She didn't want to ask anyone and I don't think she was with it enough to ask. I know at work if someone isn't eating we first figure out if they ARE ABLE TO FEED THEMSELVES!!! Geeze, now she is feeling so much better. Now if I can only get them to place the tray/table close enough for her to reach. She just isn't strong enough to pull it towards her and her cognition just is not sharp enough to "know" to do that or to even ask for help.
It is sooooo frustrating! I hear ya!!!!

Good mornin', ya'll.
Well, snows a comin' again today!
Last evening both grandsons, and one girlfriend here watching TV.
Older grandson and his girlfriend were in the living room, he comes into the family room and says great news, we all have a snow day tomorrow. The younger grandson said that wasn't great news - they have to make up that time, exams are next week and he needs all the review he can get! OMG, he is growing up! Eventually the older one took his girlfriend home and he went home, the younger decided to spend the night here. Only problem, that is my craft room and I usually have stuff spread all over in there!
I have a pre surgery consult this afternoon for my hip surgery. I'll have to call at 9 and see if they will be open. I have already seen on the news crawl that the gym is closed this morning. Our town is definately included in the snow area on the map. But we are right on the edge of the line for freezing rain all afternoon and evening!
Our daughter and her family are in Glendale, AZ for the BCS championship bowl. You tube has the cutest video about a "Duck Convoy" headed to AZ. "If you love your Ducks, fire up your trucks."
Who has the talent to come up with this stuff?
I would love to be exploring SF! So many places I'd love to explore in our country! So many places we were stationed and we never explored the area as much as we should have.
Everyone have a fantabulous day!

sending warm thoughts your way julia, hope all goes well

its cold in Jersey and snow is on the way again, tomorrow i think. brrrrrrrrr i have
had enough already and we are just hitting mid january.  well im thinking positive
maybe it will just be a little bit of that white stuff.

my house is stocked, meaning i have milk, some fruit and yogurt, frozen dinners
and of course cat food and litter for Cognac.  im getting cabin fever though, as i
will only drive in snowy weather is its absolutely necessary.

i send hugs to everyone, big warm ones, and i guess i better get off to work now.   good
day to sit home and stay warm, retirement does sound better some days.

Good morning.

Julia, I'm sure your doctor's appointment will yield exactly what you are expecting...good news.  Would love to be in SF with you.  How nice you live close enough to see those things.  I live in a forest of shopping malls on every corner, flat, no scenery.

The scale keeps inching up.  I hate it.. but I tried to eat dense protein again last night and my pouch is so sore this morning.

We had some snow yesterday.  Just north of us where my sister, T, lives got 4".  That's just a little north of where I work and the roads there are treacherous this morning. School closures in that part of the area.  We're dry and clear here.  I will probably go to $4 but with the tummy probably not get my coffee...and then just head on out as soon as I can 'see'.

Nothing much going on in my life.

Good morning all,

It is 13 degrees here and suppose to be a snow storm moving in today and lots of snow tomorrow. We'll see.

Went to see mom yesterday and she was looking better. Maybe will go to care center Tuesday. Hopefully, she can be with my dad there or at least in the same facility.

Gotta get ready for work and go get "gorgeous" like Margo says. Well, I'll try anyway....

Take care,
Cheryl

Good morning one and all

Oh Julia, you trip, other than seeing the doctors, which I know will go well, sounds great!  I love SF!  Gary's never been, but we'd love to take a trip there someday. Funny, lived the first 50 years of our lives in So Cal and he's never been to SF!  Just the way it goes, right?

We had 6 inches of snow yesterday. Pretty unusual here in Central AR, but what a beautiful sight this morning! I had to cancel all my appointments, which really messes with the "off work" budget, but it is what it is. Gary's home today too, all State employees have been told to stay home.

Today I MUST finish some knitting I promised a client as a birthday gift for her sister. I figure when I'm home after my surgery on Wed anything I knit would not be fit to give to anyone....lol. Freezer is stocked, lots of food for Gary to just heat and eat, house is clean, laundry caught up, so it looks like I'm ready.

Have a great day, stay warm, dry and safe!

Susan

It's cold in Minnesota and the snow is on it's way.  Seems like it's this way every Monday.

I'm trying so hard to reduce my carbs and increase protein.  The pouch still works, if I use it properly.  I may never make goal, but feeling better all the time.

We are busy at home - Michael still has dialysis 3x week, and we are working toward kidney transplant.    Our new puppy is a combination of curiousity and teeth.  Love him to bits, but he harasses our older dog constantly.  Oh, well.  Michael calls him "a work in progress".  He's about 8 months now (we rescued him in October), and is so sweet and lovable.

Work is constantly busy lately.  But at times I just have to take a moment for myself!

Take care everyone.

Mary
